Become a Freemason

The Foundation Club is for new or Light Blue Masons in Surrey. But if you are yet to join Freemasonry, we can help you become a Freemason.

Any man who is at least 21 years of age, is law-abiding, of good character and believes in a greater being can become a Freemason. Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations.

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations.

For many, its biggest draw is that members come from all walks of life and meet as equals whatever their race, religion or socio-economic position in society. Its values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty, and fairness. Freemasonry provides a unique environment for people who want to make lasting friendships, achieve their potential and have fun. If you have friends or family who are Freemasons, they will be happy to talk to you about becoming a Freemason and can give you advice and share their experiences.

If you live in Surrey, please visit the Provincial Grand Lodge of Surrey’s website, where you can complete their membership inquiry form. for information about becoming a Freemason. For enquiries outside of Surrey, please contact United Grand Lodge of England who can answer any questions you have about our history, future, what we believe in, the work we do or where your nearest Lodge is.

Each lodge will have its own way of doing things but essentially each follows the same principal. As much as you can, visit the lodge, or meet socially to get to know members. They will want to find out about you and you will want to make sure the lodge is right for you. Do speak with your family about joining Freemasonry in Surrey. Their support is equally important. Should you be successful the lodge will ask you to attend for an interview and your application will be completed. This will be read out at the next meeting of the lodge and a date will be set for you to become a Freemason. During this time it is generally the Secretary or Membership Officer who will keep you informed at each stage.

Good luck in your application and we look forward to welcoming you to the Foundation Club very soon!
